Best Time to Do a Maternity Session - Austin Film Wedding Photographer

This dreamy motherhood session with Amber was held in a studio with simplicity in mind. A neutral backdrop was the perfect choice to draw all attention to Amber during this wonderful stage of motherhood but we also made the decision to bring in a black backdrop for a portion of the session to create a bold look as well. At her photo session she was 32 weeks pregnant, which was the perfect time for a maternity session. Look at that glowing skin and lustrous hair! I love photographing my maternity clients between 28-32 weeks. This is right at the start of your third trimester when you’re feeling great and the belly is really starting to show. My hair and makeup artists will give you the extra special treatment to show off that hair and skin… you’ve earned it, mama!

I love coming up with outfit ideas that will showcase your natural beauty and figure during this time of your life. For one look, Amber chose to wear a beautiful white Doen dress with loose off the shoulder sleeves which were feminine and alluring. For another look, she went with a more fashion forward editorial inspired underwear outfit. I love how this is giving all the cool GAP mama ads! How gorgeous are these images going to look framed side by side in her home?!

We experimented with florals, bringing in several different blooms and got creative with them to produce unique images that had a dreamlike feel to them. This session was shot primarily on digital but we had the joy of experimenting with some polaroids, it added such an element of wonder and fun to the shoot! I love how special it is for a mom to come in and take a day for herself while she gets treated to full hair, makeup, and photoshoot.
